GOOD LUCK to Penguin Parents Cheryl Kuriger and Kim LaRosa who will be competing in the 2008 United States Masters Synchronized Swimming Championships in Las Vegas, NV, October 9-12.  Based on the current schedule for the event, they will be competing on Friday, October 10.
If you would like to see their routine without going to Vegas, they will be doing a run through of their routines, along with other members of the team, this Sunday, October 5, 2008, at 7:15 PM, at the Upper Arlington High School.  The address is 1650 Ridgeview Road, Columbus, OH 43221.

PENGUINS START OFF SEASON WITH "PB AFTER PB" IN FIRST HOME MEET!
Team veterans and first year swimmers tallied 227 PBs on Saturday.  (New swimmers assessment and practice times were used as first time of the season so swimmers could earn PB stickers, however, these PBs will not be included in our running tally above).  A total of 180 veteran PBs will start off our PB count this season! 

There were 32 PB SWEEPS ... Congratulations to Maria Basile, Morgan Bowden, Ingrid Deng, Maria Fenters, Chloe Feyh, Patrick Grzelak, Jaelen Ham, Lauren Hofer, Kelan Huffman, Colleen Jaycox, Nicole Kenny, Alex Koziatek, Ben Kuriger, Taylor Limbert, Meara Marker, Grace Murley, Abbigale Newman, Sarah Paull, William Paull, Audrey Penza, Katie Penza, Davis Pulsipher, Jon-Erik Reamer, Maren Reisch, Jordan Rosselli, Turner Schade, Amanda Springer, Parker Stanley, Matthew Stasia, Samantha Steblai, Avery Venetta and Joy Wharton!

AND MORE GOOD NEWS ... there were TWO NEW TEAM RECORDS AND FOUR ZONE QUALIFIERS during the meet.  TEAM RECORDS: Kendall Haas (13-14 Girls 50 Back, 32.23) and Lee Van Farowe (15-18 Boys 50 Back, 29.65).  ZONE QUALIFIERS: Erin Groves (11-12 Girls 50 Back), Abbigale Newman (9-10 Girls 50 Fly), Jon-Erik Reamer (11-12 Boys 100 IM, 50 Fly and 100 Breast) and John Smilges (13-14 Boys 200 IM and 100 Breast).  All Penguins achieving qualifying ZONE TIME this season will participate in March's Zone Championships at Oakland University in Michigan.

MEET RESULTS are posted under YMCA Meets.  PB stickers, PB bag tags and meet ribbons will be distributed soon!  Swimmers should check their mailbox folders daily.

A small girls blue suit was left in the locker room after Thursday night's practice.  The suit is hanging on the cabinet by the bulletin board.

PENGUIN SWIMMERS SHINE AT NATIONALS!
7/31/08 - Nick Scarpitti dropped 1.31 seconds in his 50 Meter Butterfly and finished with a time of 28.02!  Nick placed 42nd out of 156 swimmers. 
7/29/08 - Sarah Folk swam a time of 37.36 in the 50 Meter Breaststroke this morning.  Sarah placed 65th out of 132 swimmers. 
Congratulations to Sarah and Nick on their great swims at YMCA Nationals at the University of Maryland.  Both have qualified for Summer Nationals 2009!
