What are the costs of participating in this team?

The Bexley Recreation and Swim Team Booster fees have been consolidated into one fee of $107 for one swimmer, $183 for two, and $254 for three. As we have relaxed the team suit requirements (team suit from 2008 or 2009) the only other requirement is a team t-shirt for $7. With the t-shirt, the kids automatically get their swim cap too. So, if a parent of one wanted the total fees for summer swimming it would total $114.

What rules govern Bexley Marlin Swimming?

As members of both Bexley Recreation and the Tri-County Aquatic League programs we must comply with the rules and regulation set by both organizations. An example is that swimmers must compete in three meets to qualify for Champs. All Recreation and League rules and regulations are stated in their by-laws.

What is the team's attendance policy?

We encourage kids to come as often as possible, we do understand that swimmers are involved in other sports schedules, camps and family vacations. If when ever possible please let the coaching staff know if you are not going to attend, we do look for each swimmer every practice and what to be sure that this is a safe and fun summer.

How are changes to the program made?

Throughout the year the the Marlins Coaching staff , the Bexley Marlin Swim Team Parent Board and the Bexley Recreation Department work to meet the needs of the community, building the best program possible. We encourage parents to get involved with the Parent Board and volunteering. This program's success can not be maintained without it!

What are Team Scholarships?

The Bexley Recreation program and the Parent Board recognizes that not everyone has the means to provide every opportunity to each individual. If interested families are detoured by the financial commitment of the summer swimming program, financial assistance is available. All applicants must be referred by their school counselor to Barb Greiner at the Bexley Recreation Department. For more information, call 559.4300.

How many shifts is each family required to sign up for?

4 shifts is our estimate at the start of the season - this number may be lowered to 3 as more families join the team.   If that happens, those who have already signed up for 4 shifts will have one of their shifts replaced by someone else.

Does the championship meet count as one of the 4 shifts?

No. Each family will be asked to volunteer at champs if you have a child swimming that day. Sign-up for champs will be done approximately one week prior once our team gets it's volunteer assignment from the league. Some of the volunteer jobs can be done before or after the meet.

Does donating food to our home meet concessions stand count toward volunteering?

No. Our hope is that each family will donate food to at least one of the 4 home meet concessions stands. Helping to staff the concessions stand does count as a volunteer shift.

What should I do if I cannot make a shift that I have signed up for?

  1. Let Julie know ASAP. If there are open spots at other meets you can swap for another shift.
  2. If it is the day of a meet, please contact Julie by phone, instead of email.
  3. If you know of someone that can fill the shift for you, GREAT! Please contact Julie regardless, so that we know who should be checking in to volunteer at that meet.
