"They can because they think they can." ~ Virgil
A Junior at Saugus, Pablo says he wanted to be a Captain "to help represent the team and to help lead the team to success." That success may come easily if his teammates are as motivated as he is. Pablo's motivation to come to practice and swim his hardest is driven by his desire to succeed. He says, "I want to improve my times and improve my relationships with my teammates."
Pablo also believes the most important quality a swimmer should possess is devotion. He adds, "It is necessary to have a vast amount of devotion in order to succeed in swimming."
When asked how he prepares himself for a race, Pablo says, "I listen to music and review the tips I've gotten from my peers and coach." He adds, "I constantly think about how many strokes to take and my turns."
When not swimming, Pablo enjoys basketball (a former player, turned Lakers fan), going to concerts, and watching movies with friends. "The typical high school student activities," he states.
Pablo says the best advice he can give his teammates is to simply never give up. He adds, "We are capable of much more than we believe, and giving up prohibits our potential for growth."
